Gathering could consist of a system of pipeline laterals and associated facilities which may also include compression, known as booster compression. Gathering pipelines are built to connect gas from the wellheads to a central point in a field where compression, a central dehydration facility, a liquid processing plant, and a carbon dioxide or sulfur processing plant is installed. A booster compression station could be installed at individual wellheads or at the central point in the field. This booster compression would normally consist of a small horsepower unit or units that would probably be skid mounted and may or may not be installed inside a building.
