Record Audits and MAOP/MOP Determination

About EN Engineering Integrity Group
EN Engineering staff have managed and operated the assets of major gas transmission, distribution and liquids pipeline companies for decades, and are uniquely positioned to help you with your Pipeline Integrity Management Program. Our “Integrity Services” include program management and development, data gathering, review and assessment, risk assessment, pipeline integrity plans and programs and design and/or project management for repairs and modification. Background
As outlined in Subpart O of 49 CFR Part 192 (Gas Transmission Pipeline Integrity Management), operators of natural gas pipelines are required to perform detailed threat and risk analyses; to identify appropriate assessment methods; and, preventive and mitigative measures. Essential to these threat and risk analyses is the availability of accurate data about the entire pipeline system

PHMSA has advised operators that when establishing Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP), record evidence (design, construction, inspection, testing, and other related data) must be reliable, traceable, verifiable, and complete.  Sometimes, for various reasons, original, detailed documentation may not be available.

EN Engineering’s Integrity Group can facilitate capture, review and compilation of record evidence and address the challenges of MAOP determination in accordance with the intent of the PHMSA advisory bulletin.
