EN Engineering has the knowledge and experience to conduct comprehensive Facility Audits for gathering, pipeline and storage facilities. We have conducted audits and assessments at natural gas compressor stations and measurement and regulating stations. These audits are generally undertaken to identify and list design, construction, operational, code and corrosion issues that could prevent long term reliable and efficient operation of a facility.

EN Engineering’s Audit Team will consist of the appropriate engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, structural, process, electrical, automation, codes and corrosion) to satisfy the operating companies audit requirements.  The full team will visit each site and spend the necessary time to interview site operating personnel as well as conduct independent assessments.  Digital photographs will be taken of all areas of concern for inclusion in a detailed final report.  Typically, P&ID and station layout drawings will also be as-built to reflect the latest facilities and operating parameters.

The report format is generally divided into the following four sections:

Mechanical and Civil Review

·        Review buildings, compressed air systems, coolers, dehydration facilities, gas compression units and auxiliaries, gas and auxiliary piping systems, heating and ventilation, liquid handling facilities and measurement and regulation stations.

·        Review vibration, emission and noise issues (take measurements as needed).

·        Review station operational philosophy and opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.

Electrical and Instrumentation Review

·        Evaluate power company service history.

·        Examine power switching equipment.

·        Inspect emergency generating equipment.

·        Evaluate motor control center and related equipment.

·        Examine building and yard lighting.

·        Investigate instrumentation and control equipment.

·        Examine hazardous area classifications.

Codes and Safety Review

·        Confirm station MAOP’s (design, test and highest actual operating pressure) and MAOP breaks.

·        Check set pressures on regulators and OPP devices.

·        Review leak/accident history.

·        Review ESD limits, trapped gas and methods of activation.

·        Review site safety and security.

Corrosion Review

·        Review cathodic protection system documentation, design process, testing procedures and maintenance procedures.

·        Review internal corrosion program

·        Review atmospheric corrosion program.

·        Spot check facility for atmospheric corrosion issues.
